2020 GTOA Meeting Information - *** PLEASE READ (COVID-19) ***

GTOA Members - 

The Executive Committee met on Sunday June 14 to discuss our summer meeting plans as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.  Our main concern is the protection and health of our members.  This is an unprecedented time and we are making decisions that we hope protect our membership and still get us prepared for the coming football season.  With that said please note these plans are subject to change.  There are a lot of variables and the situation seems to change on a daily basis.  We wanted to send out these dates as early as possible so you can plan accordingly.  We will not start our meetings on the first Monday after the fourth of July as per usual.  We will delay the start of our meetings until late July to give a little more time to see how things play out this summer for schools. We had to move some important dates and activities until later in the summer, but we will still get the training we need to be prepared for the coming season. 

Meetings will be at Union High School 6:30pm - 8:00pm

 

We will practice social distancing by crew as much as possible

Masks are optional but highly recommended

 

Monday July 20  - Rookies Only Meeting (1-3 Year Officials) 

Monday July 27  - Meeting 1 (All Members)

Monday August 3  - Meeting 2 (Nominations)

Monday August 10  - Meeting 3 (Elections)

Monday August 17  - Meeting 4 (Awards Night)

Monday August 24  - Meeting 5

 

SUBJECT TO CHANGE

 

You must make three meetings.  This satisfies the state requirements and keeps us in line with the GTOA by-laws as far as attendance is concerned.  You may still turn in an exemption letter if you are unable to attend three meetings.  Please attach your work schedule, game schedule, or any pertinent information to the Executive Committee as we will need to approve the exemption.  If for any reason you feel uncomfortable attending the meetings out of concerns for COVD-19 please let us know and we will work with you.

The Executive team has been working very hard this summer.  We feel this is the best plan for us to move forward. As mentioned earlier, these plans are subject to change based on how schools respond to the virus this summer and going into the fall.  Please make sure your e-mail is up-to-date in Arbiter. This information can also be found on our Facebook page.

New OOA Officiating Shirts Are Now Available

The new OOA officiating shirts are now available from two vendors:  Referee's Call and Official's Locker.  These shirts will be required for the 2020 OSSAA Playoff Series this year, but will not be mandatory for regular season games for 2020.

Officiating Performance Standards - *** IMPORTANT ***

Click the link below to view the Officiating  Performance Standards.  With the return of the OSSAA Observation Program, OSSAA evaluators will be using these standards to evaluate individual and crew performance.  These standards are to be used consisently throughout the state by all football officials.  Failure to follow these standards may result in a negative performance evaluation.

The 2020 GTOA Registration is now open!  This includes registration for officials and the optional GTOA Camp.

NOTE:  Print the crew card templates on heavy cardstock paper (dual side), and then cut as necessary.

2020 OSSAA Mechanics Conference - Weekly

Dates:  Weekly Mechanics calls are every Wednesday at 9:00pm and
will begin again in August at the start of the 2020 season and continue

every week until the season is completed (including playoffs).

This meeting is ONLY for new officials (1st  - 3rd year of service).  1st year officials will be provided all of the information required to begin their officiating career, and 2nd & 3rd year officials will continue their training.

2020 GTOA Registration - NOW OPEN

The 2020 GTOA Registration is now open!  This registration is for GTOA officials and the optional GTOA Camp for all area officials. (NOTE:  GTOA Camp has been cancelled)

(NOTE: there is NO late fee for new officials who are joining our association for the first time and the GTOA late fee deadline has been extened to July 6th).

Our registration is fully electronic, and you will need a valid e-mail and a current credit/debit card to complete your payment.

You must also register with the OSSAA, and can do so from the GTOA registration page.  OSSAA Registration opens June 1st annually (select the OSSAA registration link at the bottom of the page). OSSAA late fees will be assessed on August 1st.

Crew Chiefs:  SUBMIT YOUR CREW  (June 15th is the annual deadline).  The Crew Submission form is located on the registration page. You MUST have at least four (4) officials on the crew to be considered by the Assignment Committee.
